Hatch Cover Leak Test​

Hatch cover leak test is being performed on the hatch covers of a ship’s cargo hold (dry bulk carrier/ general cargo) to determine the watertightness of the hatch cover.

This test is crucial because it ensures that the cargo is protected against water damage during transport. A leaking hatch cover could cause significant damage to the cargo and, in extreme cases, lead to the sinking of the ship. Consequently, hatch cover leak tests are typically mandated by international maritime regulations and are regarded as an essential element of any voyage’s safety measures.

In MIMC, we conduct the test using Cygnus Hatch Sure for Ship Ultrasonic Hatch Cover Leak Detector where the test can be performed effectively and quickly. The device used by us also accepted by P&I clubs and it is ABS (American Bureau Shipping) type approved.
